Two very important articles about the current scandal of American soldiers humiliating and torturing Iraqi prisoners:

I hope that a lot of Americans read both of these articles. Kennicott’s article because it makes the case for taking a shared association with both the “good” and the “bad” that is done by somebody of your nation. Churcher’s article because it shows beyond any doubt that the American soldiers who humiliated and tortured Iraqi prisoners weren’t just disturbed, twisted individuals whose removal from the game will make the problems disappear. These disturbed, twisted individuals were brought up in a disturbed, twisted part of the American society.
